Misses' Southern Lady Costume Pattern Butterick "Making History" sewing pattern number 4051 © 2003. The pattern is uncut and complete with instructions. This design is often referred to as the drapery dress and the Portieres Dress. Sewing Rating: Advanced Lined, fitted bodice has princess seams, front hook and eye closing, two piece sleeve with snap closing and left shoulder capelet with cord trim. Full, floor length skirt and overskirt have grosgrain waistband, back hook and eye and snap closing. Overskirt has side front seam tucks and shaped hemline; attaches to bodice with hooks and eyes. Lined hat has pleated front, ribbon ties, purchased boa feathers and fringe trim. Lined bag has ribbon drawstring strap. Purchased hoop petticoat and cord with tassels for belt. Suggested Fabrics: Velvet, Velveteen, Satin, Brocade and Twill.
