Description
I don't know the history of this very interesting envelope with doll patterns inside, it is very vintage, the 30s perhaps maybe 1940s... called 1848 costumes for 10 inch fashion manikin set of 3 Betty James Originals. inside are some hand traced copies ON lined paper.. also three individual booklet style bond paper patterns... the pieces are outlined on each booklet sheet and you would need to trace the pieces for the appropriate fashion. Number ONE: is . 1848 afternoon gown for 10 inch doll. use silk,.. to be worn over two starched petticoats... the original gown was aster blue China silk with royal blue velvet ribbon.. so historic... lovely, as I received it.. and this also says Bertha.. and the second lovely pattern is similar in pattern booklet sheet, Number TWO for 1848 cloak and bonnet for 10 inch doll... and again trace the pattern pieces outlined on each sheet... and in this fashion the original bonnet was pale blue satin with moss green organza and tiny feathers in blue, green and black. totally Wow factor... and the third pattern design Number THREE is the 1848 ball gown for a 10 inch doll will fit any fashion manikin type doll with a very slender waist, wonder if it would look good on a China Head Doll, maybe... and every effort toward authenticity was used.. waistbands have been employed rather than drawstrings to eliminate bulk.. this is a maiden's ball gown.. only maidens wore white.. matrons wore colors, therefore a young man searching for a bride wasted no time on a married lady.. the young ladies of the 1840s believed tht it pays to advertise.. the whole package is very vintage, type written instructions.. no dates of reproduction..
