969 1959-64 BARBIE DOLL SUBURBAN SHOPPER DRESS, LARGE STRAW HAT

Vintage Barbie Suburban Shopper #969 (1959-1964) Blue & White Sundress Straw Hat with Blue Ribbon Pearl Drop Necklace Straw Purse with Fruit White Open Toe Heels Pink Phone This adorable cotton sundress (the fabric and print always remind me of a tablecloth!) and big straw hat is such a great representation of casual wear in the late 50s, early 60s. The dress has a full skirt and back zipper. The cloth tag will have the TM if made in 1959 and the R if made later. Because of the hardy fabric and the five year run, this dress is easy to find. The accessories are also fairly easy to obtain, although it is rare to find a hat in mint condition, as they are prone to unravel around the edges. Busy Morning #956 (1963) was a variation of this ensemble, with an orange sundress. Mattel issued a Suburban Shopper Reproduction in 2001. from doll reference.. .
